Apple Said to Start Tomorrow

BOTTOM LINE

HTC has always been pretty open about its Android update roadmap, and Im sure well hear much more from the company when the software is available this fall. It appears HTC has plans to support a handful of its older devices, including the One Max, One Mini and even the Desire 610, when it pushes out Android L. In the meantime, HTC has already confirmed plans to release Android 4. Early last week the company told TechnoBuffalo it was excited about Googles latest update, and was committed to updating its flagship HTC One family as fast as possible.

HTC has been pretty vocal about its support for Android L, which is scheduled to launch this fall. If HTC doesnt feel the effort is worth it for a device like the Butterfly S, it might not ever see Android L. It’s possible that’s just an educated guess based on when it expects to receive the final Android L software from Google. So far the company has promised it will roll out updates to the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 within 90 days of receiving final software from Google.

But beyond the M7 and M8, it isnt all that clear which of the Taiwanese companys older handsets will receive the upgrade. Now, thanks to a leaked roadmap, we have a better idea of what to expect when the software finally becomes available.4. All of the devices mentioned on the alleged roadmap simply state that theyre in the evaluation stage, which means we might see the update hit these devices, or we might not.

Now, the roadmap below, shows that HTC expects that deployment to occur between October and December of this year. Same goes for its other devices. HTC also said it would follow that up with updates to other One family members, but didnt specify which handsets.4 for devices like the HTC One M7 and the HTC One M8 between July and August.

Through some intrepid handiwork out of XDA, HTCs roadmap for the later months of 2014 have been unveiled. That is the news today. Have a great day!
